Abstract<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

This qualitative study examines the influence of the Social & Emotional Teaching and Learning module, delivered during the first year of the professional Master’s program in Educational Engineering at the Centre for Language and Communication Sciences (CSLC), Lebanese University, on the construction of prospective teachers\u2019 professional identity. The CSLC provides a complementary pathway to teacher professionalization alongside the Faculty of Education, making it a particularly relevant setting for investigating the emergence of a hybrid professional identity that integrates disciplinary, pedagogical, and socio-emotional competencies. Drawing on five case studies of students enrolled in the first year of the professional Master’s program in Educational Engineering and grounded in the CASEL theoretical framework, this study explores identity construction through semi-structured individual interviews, classroom observations, and a focus group, whose data were analyzed using reflexive thematic analysis. Three dimensions are examined: representations of the professional role, perceived professional self-efficacy, and the articulation between disciplinary and socio-emotional competencies. The findings reveal a substantial transformation in participants\u2019 representations of the professional role (H1), a progressive and differentiated strengthening of professional self-efficacy (H2), and the spontaneous integration of socio-emotional dimensions into their envisioned teaching practices (H3). The implications of these findings for initial teacher education in Lebanon are discussed. Based on a qualitative case study, this research does not aim for statistical generalization, but for analytical generalization and transferability to comparable contexts.<\/p>\n
